Ian's Bead Company
8 year old Ian combines his love of dogs with his love of craft making to help the Chicago canine rescue, New Leash on Life and other animal rescue organizations, such as Small Dog Adoption (Plantation, FL), Chicago Animal Care & Control, Dogs Deserve Better and others. After selling beaded jewelry and accessories from a stand in front of a friend's house, Ian decided to donate the proceeds (about $12) to New Leash on Life. Ian's Bead Company was born after the Kiehl's Chicago store offered to host a craft sale for Ian in December 2006. Ian's held his first official sale at the Kiehl's store in December 2006 and raised over $200. Many of his friends asked to help and now, over 30 kids are involved in this community service project. These elementary school aged kids have raised well over $12,500. Every dollar raised by Ian's Bead Company is donated to New Leash on Life and other resuces . The community minded kids of Ian's Bead Company have helped many animals!
Ian's Bead Company has vastly expanded its product line and the crafts for purchase now include: fancy beaded jewelry, stationery, hand drawn cards, key chains, hair accessories, magnets, bookmarks, vases and holiday themed items. All the products are hand crafted by Ian and his friends.
Ian's Bead Company welcomes donations of craft supplies. Indeed, many businesses and individuals have supported Ian's Bead Company by donating supplies and services. (See below).

Ian and his elves have been drawing all summer. Over 10 designs are available (Christmas, Hanukkah or general holiday). Cards are printed on card stock and include an envelope. Cards are $2 each of 4 for $7.

At their May 3, 2008 sale, Ian and his friends raised $974! This is an especially impressive number since the weather was terrible. Thanks to everyone who came to the sale and made purchases! Also, a big thank you to Kiehl's who so generously donated their space and help to the sale! An extra big thank you to Nora Shafer of Unicoi Studios who generously donated her time, talent and art studio for a craft party where Ian and his friends made many of the crafts for sale.
